[TriLUG] slackware ... grub? - resolution

thanks for the input. problem resolved. 

resolution:
installed LILO to the MBR.

extraneous discussion:
in the slackware installation process when you are installing the bootloader
(LILO or nothing are the choices) there are three choices. not knowing which
one to do i started with 1. choices 1 and 2's problems were, i believe,
compounded by the fact that i had not made my first partition bootable on
had. correcting that, though, did not fix the problem until i exercised
choice 3 which is to install LILO to the MBR.

rhetorical questions:
did my non-boot partition really compound the problem(s)? would the problem
have fixed itself if i had simply proceeded to choice 3? i don't know.

It sounds like you need to use a LiveCD of some sort, and then chroot into
your newly installed system to run the lilo installer (I don't know what
this is, but I'm sure someone on the list does [or Google...])  I don't
think you want to use grub-install since you said you want to (or have to?)
use Lilo...
