On a typical home network it's likely that addresses assigned by DHCP 
will also be essentially static, since the DHCP server and clients will 
generally try to have the same address used for repeated requests and 
the pool is usually much larger than the number of devices that are 
used.

The thing I like about using dnsmasq is that I can specify a host name 
on a new client machine, and that is automatically available to hosts 
using that dnsmasq as the name server; I don't need to remember to add 
the new host on the DNS server.
