"webdav" and "webdavs" (IIRC, it comes standard with KDE 3.x).
Easy to use, easy to set up (on the client side). On the server side,
you just needed to load a webdav mod.
For example, you want to get those html files that you just finished
with, say, Quanta+ to your webdav enabled apache. So you select the
files and drag'n'drop 'em to the folder "YourSite" on your desktop that
points to the URL "webdav://www.yourserver.org/yoursite/"
Just like that.
