Cron job?

You could trigger the job via an email, and then have it email the results back to you...

And how about using good old ssh? :-)

I do not need to access it from outside the building. (I just don't feel like walking down 4 flights of stairs whenever I need to create the file.) I've looked at RealVNC and while it certainly would do what I need, it just seems like overkill. If I have the other unit set up as the "server" with me as the "client" the "server" must be always running. On the occasions I need to access the unit there is no one at it to start some process for me. Everything must take place without human intervention.
