If you missed the meeting on this topic a couple of weeks ago, the
slides and video of the talk are linked from the trilug meeting page:

The talk delves into RAID configurations, IOPS, etc and then onto ZFS
and BTRFS.  Jim is a wealth of practical knowledge in this area, and
has given a range of similar talks at other conferences which would be
worth looking up.
