Per the USB spec, a USB2.0 port / device should have a transfer speed
of 480 Mbps, so it should be plenty fast.  USB3, if I recall was
designed to be able to stream blue ray video and is specified at 5 or
10 Gbps depending on whether it is 3.0 or 3.1.

If your memstick is slow to write, it could be that it's too full and
doesn't have enough free pages. The rule of thumb is to keep 25-30%
free capacity. I can't remember if it also slows down and takes longer
to erase as it gets older and closer to it's cycle limit because it's
been so long since that sort of thing has been an issue.
