do you have backups? revert to the last working setup.

We are beholden to these spectacularly bad pair of softwares. There should 
be no way that you could get this to happen even if you tried.

Reinstalling ubuntu will involve re-creating many more files than 
re-installing just firefox and mozilla. Once they're working, backup the 
profiles and extensions every week.
